About

A first belt, and a stitching chisel that was not sharp

Norvera Archive is a sole proprietorship based in Gurugram, Haryana, operating online as Norvera Archive (norveraarchive.shop).

How this started

A first belt, cut from a decent piece of veg-tan, ruined by a stitching chisel that arrived blunt. The holes tore instead of punching, the line wandered, and two hours of work went in the bin. The chisel had been sold as ‘professional’.

A properly ground set cost about the same and made the difference between a craft and a frustration. That is the whole reason this shop exists: in leatherwork the tool is not an accessory to the skill, it is most of it.

In leatherwork a blunt tool does not slow you down. It destroys the piece you were making.

Our commitment

Sharpened and checked

Every edged tool is inspected — and where a tool ships needing a strop, the listing says so instead of pretending.

Prong spacing published

Stitching chisels are listed by millimetre spacing, because a 3 mm and a 4 mm chisel make completely different work and no photograph shows the difference.

Told what it is for

Which weight of leather a tool suits. A punch meant for 2 mm veg-tan will not go through a 5 mm belt blank, and we say so.

Our story

The range stays small because every tool here has been used on real leather at this bench before it was listed. Several never made it: a groover that skipped, an edge beveller that dug in at any angle but one.

We publish the awkward advice too — that a beginner needs three good tools rather than a twenty-piece kit, and that most of what goes wrong in a first project is the leather, not the tooling.

Online only

There is no showroom and no walk-in counter. Norvera Archive trades entirely online and ships across India from Gurugram, Haryana, which keeps overheads off the price of the goods.
